About the Role
Safely operate a school bus or passenger van to transport students to and from school, field trips, athletic events, and other activities.
Follow established routes and schedules, ensuring timely arrival and departure at designated locations.
Adhere to all traffic laws, safety regulations, and school district policies and procedures related to student transportation.
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in safe operating condition and report any maintenance issues or concerns to the appropriate personnel.
Maintain a clean and orderly vehicle, including interior and exterior cleaning, fueling, and routine maintenance tasks.
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff regarding transportation schedules, routes, and safety protocols.
Ensure the safety and well-being of students during transportation, including assisting students with boarding and exiting the vehicle and enforcing safety rules and behavior expectations.
Respond appropriately to emergencies, accidents, or other incidents during transportation, following established procedures and protocols.
Maintain accurate records of daily mileage, vehicle maintenance, fuel consumption, and student ridership as required by school district policies and state regulations.
Participate in training sessions, safety meetings, and professional development opportunities to enhance driving skills, safety awareness, and customer service.
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with passenger endorsement and a clean driving record.
Previous experience driving a school bus or passenger van preferred.
Knowledge of traffic laws, safety regulations, and defensive driving techniques.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with students, parents, and school staff.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Commitment to safety, reliability, and exceptional customer service.
